The Periodic Table is inspired by an extract from The Period Table by Primo Levi. The original story told the tale of a boy who lived in a society where lead was used as currency. His family were the best in finding the lead, however, with a lead shortage, they began to go hungry. He then set off in search of more lead, slowly loosing his mind as he suffers from lead poisoning.
In my adaptation, the boy comes from a far away planet that runs on lead. Due to the low supply, he sets off across the galaxy in search of more lead to bring fortune to his family. In doing so, he forgets his helmet (his protection against lead poisoning) and slowly goes crazy, getting lost on a deserted planet. Below are a few sample pages from the nine page comic.
